DCRL Rules and Info

League Format:

The 3v3 league will consist of 8 weeks of league play followed by a 2-week double elimination tournament for a chance to qualify for LAN (held December 9th-10th on the NDSU Campus). The league will be split up into 3, potentially 4 divisions depending on how many participants join each semester.

League Rules:

If any issues come up with scheduling matches, please reach out to a DCRL Admin to see if arrangements can be made. DCRL Admins are labeled in the discord at the top of the “members” list. Any repetitive scheduling issues, poor sportsmanship, or anything else deemed against the conduct rules will result in disciplinary action. This can mean removal from the league and revoking of rights to join future seasons of DCRL.

DCRL is meant to be a fun college league inclusive to everyone. Proper sportsmanship and personal conduct will apply to every match. This includes and is not limited to the Golden Rule,  respecting everyone's differences and skill levels and keeping it family-friendly. At the end of the day this league is for fun and everyone in the DCRL community’s goal is to have an enjoyable experience playing a game we all love.

Smurfing:

The act of purposefully implying that your skill level is lower than it actually is, either through intentionally tanking your rank or creating a new account, and would be used to get onto a better team in DCRL. In the event that someone is accused of smurfing, the situation will be reviewed until there is enough evidence to confirm or deny the accusation. If enough evidence is compiled to support the accusation, the DCRL admins will look over the evidence as a group and have an anonymous voting session on whether the player is believed to be smurfing or not. If there is a negative consensus, no punishment will be given out. If there is a positive consensus, the player will be removed from the league indefinitely and replaced with a player whose skill and rank is comparable to similar picks in the DCRL draft. The player picked must be deemed reliable by the admins and will play out the remaining season as if they were drafted in the first place.

Draft:

Every participant that signs up for DCRL will be given a “DCRL rank” based on a combination of their in-game rank, and any other known knowledge on the individual player (i.e. RLTracker, individual tryout, etc.) The draft will take place “behind the scenes”, where the final reveal of the draft will take place on the official twitch channel for everyone to see.

With the league being composed of teams of 3, there is a chance that one or two people will be left over with no more players to complete their team. In the event of this occurrence, the DCRL admins will vote on whether or not adding trusted alumni who no longer attend North Dakota or South Dakota colleges to the league. The decision will be based on whether adding people would enhance the league, or whether bending the rules would result in a cluttered season. If the league would be in a worse place by adding people (again, this would be determined through a vote), the last people to sign up will not be allowed to participate in this season until we have a number of applicants that is divisible by 3.

Team Format:

Each 3v3 team will have a Team Captain responsible for: scheduling matches, submitting results and signing up to play on stream.

  • Team Captains for Division A (top-ranked division) are picked by the DCRL Committee.

  • Team Captains for the rest of the divisions will be re-evaluated based on those not picked by the previous division.

Each team will be responsible for submitting an appropriate team name and a logo before league play starts.

Team names can be no more than two words and 15 characters. The logo must be of decent quality and have a transparent background. Message any Admins if you have any questions.

LAN Event: May 4th and 5th

Match Format:

Each team will have 1 series per week. These series will be best-of-5 games and will be played on any standard 3v3 map. You will have from Monday morning of that week to Sunday night to complete the required series or it will count as a double forfeit. If one team does not show up on the agreed time or does not make any attempt to set a date by the end of the week, that team will forfeit the match and the win will be awarded to the team that attempted to set up the match. This includes Playoffs.

Playoffs:

Playoffs will start on November 13th and will run until December 3rd. More info about Playoffs will be provided as we get closer. Seeding will be based on the best record, win differential, then head-to-head. The playoffs will be a double elimination bracket and all playoff and LAN games will be best-of-7s. In the grand finals if the team from the loser bracket finals wins the first series it will send the finals into a bracket reset. This will lead to one last series to determine the champion. The LAN will be on December 9th and December 10th. If you make LAN you must be able to attend the event. Please plan accordingly and have those days open.

Streaming:

There will be a tab in the DCRL spreadsheet called “Stream Signups”. The team captain must post when your team plays. The games must be posted on the signups 24 hours before they are played to have a chance at being streamed on the main channel. Our twitch is “NDSU Rocket League.” Make sure to follow us so you can get notified when we go live. Make sure to be appropriate on any stream broadcasting a DCRL series as we are a college club. Any other colleges in DCRL are allowed to stream these games, but we ask that the DCRL and team logos are used properly. Reach out to any admin and they can send these out to be used for streaming.

League Stats:

Using replay data, we are able to track all match stats and will keep a spreadsheet with the results. This will be updated every Sunday night and be finalized by Monday at noon. The stats tracked will be: goals, assists, saves, shots, demos, demoed, and boost per minute (BPM).

Reporting: The winning team’s captain of the series will be responsible for submitting all replays in the appropriate channel after the matches. If one team does not have any PC players please let the other team know so they can make sure replays are saved through Bakkesmod. All replays must be saved and uploaded to BallChasing.com as a group. This group must then be posted in the DCRL discord under the proper divisions game reporting channel. If you have any questions about BakkesMod, BallChasing or how to set either of them up, please contact one of the discord admins ASAP.

League Rewards:

At LAN, end-of-season rewards will be awarded to each division for the following:

  • MVP - Most Valuable Player (Voted on by League Members)

  • MIP - Most Improved Player (Voted on by League Members)

  • Rookie of the Year (Voted on by League Members)

  • Golden Striker - Most Goals Per Game

  • Stone Wall Savior - Most Saves Per Game

  • Playmaker - Most Assists Per Game

  • Demo Merchant - Most Demos Per Game

  • Respawn Royalty - Most Respawns Per Game

  • Boost Goblin - Highest Boost Per Minute (BPM)

Disconnects:

If a disconnect occurs during a league game, your first course of action should be to screenshot the scoreboard as quickly as possible. Then, the two captains from each team need to come to a conclusion as to what the score AND time remaining was at the time of the disconnect. If both team captains agree, an attempt can be made to exactly replicate the stats for each player at the time of disconnect. If a player is continuously disconnecting, the series can be remade/rescheduled completely, the series can be forfeited by the team with the disconnecting player, or the team with the disconnecting player can play out the rest of the series in a 2v3 depending on the circumstances at hand. The team captains can come together to decide how this should happen, and if there are any disputes, contact one of the Admins. If any evidence of a team or player purposefully disconnecting is found, punishment will be administered accordingly.
