NDSU Rocket League Hall of Victors
The NDSU Rocket League club weekly league started back in 2019. Starting with just 12 players, the club was able to run a small 2v2 and 3v3 league. Over time the club grew to over 40 members participating in the league. We knew this was something that we wanted to continue to grow and so in fall of 2022, Dakota Collegiate Rocket League was formed which replaced the NDSU weekly league with a league open to all college students in North and South Dakota. That being said, we figure it was only fair to recognize the accomplishments of the past champions of the weekly league and immortalize them in our NDSU Rocket League hall of victors.

Season 3: 2s Weekly League
The Season 3 2’s league started, where Ssmegladon and Silk as the ‘Ooga Booga Scary Apes’ became our champions in a fairly heroic fashion. During league play they were just a middle of the line team. They only boasted a slightly positive winning percentage. Then, they made a very good playoffs run, but they ended up losing in the Winners Finals. But, they didn’t count themselves out and went on to win the losers bracket finals to face the team that had originally sent them there once again. This time was different — they started of loosing the first 3 games, which put the opposing team on championship point. Season 3: 3s Weekly League
The Season 3 3s weekly league was a very competitive one. Instinct, Liam, and UrbanLiving as ‘Godly Instinct Urban Style’ had a very good league play season. They dropped very few games or series’ and seemed to be the dominant team. With that, they had a very dominate playoffs run where they took the winners final game in a 4-0 sweep. They then faced the second lowest seed in the grand finals, where they put up a good fight in a very competitive series. However it was Liam, Instinct, and Urban who able to take them down with series score of 4-2.

Season 4: 2s Weekly League
Season 4 was the first time a league was played during the summer. This season was the cumulation of many experiments. This season introduced divisions and was the first time we only had one league happening. On top of it all it was Heatassassin’s debut season. Heatassassin and former NDSU Rocket League president Sladehunt as ‘Hunting Remhedy’ won all of their games in league play. When it came time for the playoffs, things were no different as they didn’t drop a single series. With this performance, Heatassassin was already securing himself as one of the top players that NDSU had seen thus far — and he hadn’t even started his freshman year yet!

Season 5: 3s Weekly League
Season 5 was the biggest season NDSU had seen yet, and Heatassassin fresh off a dominate victory in the summer was the number 1 captain. He got two back to back draft picks after all the other captains choose their first round pick. This proved to be a huge advantage to him as he picked up two top tier players. During league play, Jaydon, Heatassassins, and WannabeMLG as the ‘Anarchists’ went undefeated. Heatassassin was looking to repeat what happened in the summer and after a few quick and easy wins in the playoffs, the anarchists were in the grand finals. After a few rocky games the Anarchists find themselves in a game 7 and they end up losing the series 4-3. This proved to be a huge blow to the undefeated team. However, since they were the top seed they had 1 last rematch series to prove themselves. After a short break the Anarchists come back in dominate fashion and take down their opponents in heroic 4-0 fashion. They had secured 1st place and were able take home the trophy at last.

Season 6: 2s Div a Weekly League
After a short winter break Heatassassin was ready to participate in another weekly league. This time he was looking to tie Ktool’s championships record of 3. This season introduced ‘Divisions’ into the weekly league. Division A had the best of the best in club all fighting for the top spot. This time around Heatassassin and UrbanLiving as the ‘Car Swappers’ had some ups and downs throughout the regular season where they dropped a few series, yet won a few other very important ones. In the playoffs, they ended up losing to one of the Goliath teams of this season. This did put them in the losers bracket, but this did not deter them as they had a lot of fight left. After taking out a few teams they were once again up against the only team at this point that had defeated them twice. This time the result was different somehow, the series still went to game 5. However, NDSU Rocket League legend UrbanLiving was not ready to give up yet and took the series. After this win, only one team stood between them and the Grand Finals — the 1st seed team. The Car Swappers were able to take them out in only 6 games. Finally they were in the grand finals and they were playing better than ever although they had a tough road ahead. They showed their grit by 4-0’ing their opponents and forced the bracket reset. The Car Swappers took the next series 4-1 and took home the trophy — securing the first ever Div A trophy.

Season 6: 2s Div B Weekly League
With The new divisions system and a ton of new players the Spooners quickly stood out as a top team in Division B. They proved that they were worth something, where they only dropped a single game in the whole regular season. Spoon was proven to be a solid performer, and Whirl with his first season in the club was proving to better than anyone may of suggested. Because of this, they swept their way through the playoffs dropping very few games. In the winners bracket final they ended up facing the lowest seeded team, and took that series 4-2. The Spooners had to wait and see who they would face again in the grand finals, which turned out to the lowest ranked seed once again. This would have been a huge Cinderella story had the Spooners not been so dominate. The grand finals score ended up being a 4-0 sweep which secured them the first ever Division B trophy.
